Along came a Baby

Cash Anthony Baron

Well, it’s official, little Baby Baron finally made his arrival! Cash Anthony Baron was born on October 5th and has been mesmerizing me ever since. These past few weeks have flown by with tons of baby cuddling and visitors. It’s absolutely amazing how this little man has changed my world upside down for the better. I may actually have to let go of some of my obsessions and become obsessed with a whole new life.

I had been told by other mothers that there is nothing quite as special as giving birth to your child and having your world change; they are completely right. My priorities have shifted (but don’t worry, I’ll still make time for postings). Stay tuned for more updates on Cash but as for now I need to go and love on my little baby boy!

Gluten-free Pumpkin Bread and a Baby

September 30, 2011 § Leave a comment

I used a loaf pan with a pumpkin form on top but the pics don't do it justice.

This Friday morning started off with an absolutely delicious piece of Gluten-Free Pumpkin Bread, a big cup of coffee followed by a Doctors visit that said Baby Baron is 100% ready to make his appearance into this world. Since my Doctor believes in letting the baby arrive in his own due time, we were sent home to finish up any last minute things we have to do (like packing my bag for the hospital, yes, my denial of this event has to come to an end) and wait. I know this waiting game could last a while, so I’m very thankful that Baby Baron let me make this amazing Pumpkin Bread yesterday. Pumpkin is my number one fall desire and I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out. Wish me luck if Baby decides to come this weekend! If not, I’ll see ya’ll on Monday.

I used Arrowhead Mills Gluten Free All Purpose Baking Mix instead of regular flour. I absolutely love this mix and the results it gives me.

Too Cute for Words

I came across this darling hat and diaper cover over at etsy.com and I can’t wait to get it for my little guy. I’m not one for over-the-top things but this just seems so appropriate since the theme and color scheme for the nursery came from a sock monkey. I’m in baby mode  100% this week since my shower is tomorrow. I’m just so excited to share this wonderful experience with all my closest friends and family. As I patiently (well the best to my ability) await the arrival of my little one, I think of all the exciting things that will be happening this year. I’ve seen baby outfits for Thanksgiving and Christmas that I want to purchase and my younger brother is getting married in January and I can’t wait to put Baby Baron in a Baby Tux, too cute! I know my weekend is going to be wonderful and I wish the same for all of you. See ya on Monday.

Nursery Part II

August 2, 2011 § 1 Comment

A few weeks ago I posted the beginning of our Nursery transformation (seen here). We started with a blank canvas and I am happy to say that things are coming along nicely. I am extremely happy with my choice of wall color and the finished result of the crib has put me over-the-edge with excitement and anticipation for Baby Baron’s arrival. We were lucky enough to score a used crib on craigslist (it came with a mattress and no recall, score) which saved us a bundle and gave me total creative control. I choose to compliment the black and white walls by painting the crib a bold teal color. We used the color Sprinkler by Valpar at Lowe’s. Not only did the crib turn out fantastic but the chair I ordered from a local boutique made its arrival this past weekend as well, perfect timing. Next up, finding linens for the crib, refinishing a side table I found and finding artwork for the walls. I’ll keep ya’ll posted.

My husband started by sanding and priming the crib for a clean slate.

It took a couple weeks to paint the crib. Primer, three coats of paint, sealer and lot's of patients gave us perfect results. Then came the tough part of remembering how it all fit back together.

Martini was great at supervising.

I was a huge help, ok not really. But I did make sure to have treats for those that put in all the hard work.

Finished crib and new chair! I can't wait to put them both to good use.

Things that make me Smile

Very Berry Brie Appetizer served with crackers.

This summer hasn’t gotten off to a very bright or warm start here in the NW and I was beginning to find it hard to keep my spirits up. Each weekend has been passing by without many hours of sunshine and the lack of sun and time I’ve spent indoors has taken a toll on me. Also, my poor body has been working overtime to stay healthy and fight off a cold that is working very hard to stick around. Since this summer hasn’t been all that I’d hoped for, I thought it best that I take a few minutes to appreciate all the things in my life that are currently making me smile on a daily basis. 1. Baby Baron is growing like a little weed along with my belly 🙂 and I thank God everyday for this little miracle I am creating. 2. I appreciate every moment I get to spend with my husband and I know our life is about to change forever (in a good way of course). Some of the more simple nights in are becoming very important and memorable to me.  3. Doing small craft projects and using my creativity always brightens my mood. 4. Scoring good deals at Nordstrom immediately puts a smile on my face! 5. Doing anything to prepare for our little boy reminds me just how precious life really is. These are just a few things that make me smile; what puts a smile on your face?

"Missoni" inspired bird house I recently painted.

Attended the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and made a few purchases.

Finding irresistibly adorable baby clothes to purchase.

Side table I found on sale for Baby Baron's room that I plan on painting a fun color. I'm leaning towards Orange, but I'll keep ya posted.

And Baby Makes 4!

My husband and I have enjoyed five adventuresome years together and we finally decided it was time to add more fun to the party we are having. We have made many great memories together and are truly excited to bring a little one into the world. We recently found out what we will be having and thought it would be fun to invite some of our closest friends over to share our news.

We asked our friends to guess what the sex of the baby is.

Found a fun drink for the mommy-to-be to enjoy.

I made a cake to reveal to sex. Little Miles made us all sing “Happy Birthday”                         before we dug in. He’s too cute!

It's a BOY!

We are so excited to meet Baby Baron in October! With much to do and research I think we will be able to keep ourselves very busy this summer. I can’t wait to pick the brains of all my mommy friends and get advice and suggestions from those with experience. This overwhelming feeling of love I already have for my little baby boy is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. To see his little body developing is such a miracle and I will do my best to help him grow big (well not too BIG, he’s gotta get into the world still) and strong.  Here’s to watching the belly grow.

My husband thought this was a necessary purchase for our little guy; he is going to make a great daddy.
