Adding individual pieces to my home that give it a little bit of character is important to me. I like my home to represent ME and not just big box stores. Since my style is more eclectic, I am always looking for inexpensive ways to change things up. I came up with the most simple craft that is quick, easy and inexpensive. Visiting my local Goodwill, I picked up a few white coffee cups for only $.25 each (what a steal). With some paint and creativity, I added a simple design to the cups. Voila, I turned plain into pretty in under a minute. These items will also make amazing hostess gifts for all the Holiday parties coming up. It will be fun to put a personalized touch on the cups that I give away. There is nothing better than giving a gift that has your own added special flare.
Have a fantastic weekend and don’t forget to treat yourself to something special.

Yesterday was the first day it finally felt like fall in my neck of the woods. As my hubby was busy watching football I decided to pull out all of my fall decorations and get the holiday transition started. I don’t decorate for Halloween as much as I do for the entire Fall/Harvest season. This way, I find I can leave my decorations out longer and they transition beautifully for Thanksgiving. I’m very grateful for this since I’m sure we will have a houseful this year for Thanksgiving with the arrival of Baby Baron. As I put out my many different candy dishes and pumpkin decorations, I decided that I need to add a little extra flare this year. I went straight to the craft lady herself, Martha Stewart for inspiration. After browsing through her fall craft/decorating ideas I have decided I need to embellish a few pumpkins with glitter and shine. I made the glitter pumpkins a few years back and since they were incredibly easy I’m going to give them a whirl again. Check out all the other ideas Martha has this year to decorate your home. I’m sure you’ll find something to fit your style.

Sparkle! Could there be a better word to describe life and living? I’m a huge advocate of surrounding yourself with and filling your home/personal space with things you love and make you smile. This word pillow from Jonathan Adler hits the nail on the head. I’m coveting this pillow with all my heart. There is nothing better than opening your sleepy eyes in the morning and being reminded to SPARKLE! What’s your mantra for life? Have a fantastic hump day and don’t forget to let your light shine and sparkle.
PS-Happy Birthday to the most fabulous woman I know, my mom! Love you with all my heart. xoxo

So the nursery is coming together quite nicely and the main accessory we need to fill it up is a BABY! Since my style is more simple and understated, I’m trying to keep the nursery from looking cluttered and busy. I wasn’t able to find a mobile that fit the nursery colors so I decided to make tissue paper pom poms. I used this tutorial and they turned out fantastic (a little time consuming because I am a perfectionist, but totally worth it). I couldn’t be more pleased with the final look of the nursery. It has bright colors to stimulate the baby while still feeling calm and clean.
I created this artwork to hang above the dresser/changing table. I picked up white frames from Ikea (similar ones here) and painted them orange (Disney color by Behr paint in Bouncy Bouncy). I then went to a local craft store and was able to cut out alphabet letters and put them on scrapbook paper inside the frames. I think they turned out fantastic.
We recently purchased this dresser from Ikea. I love the simplicity of it. The drawers slide out quietly and are really deep (and it passed the durability test that my husband put it through). We are planning on using it as a changing table as well occupying the drawer space.
We are having our couples Babyshower this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited. I have a Gluten-Free cake on order and my girlfriends are being so cute by trying to keep everything a secret. My next project is finding a way to say thank you to them. Babyshower pics will be posted next week, so stay tuned.

Missoni for Target that is! For all you fashionistas on a budget like myself this is as good as Christmas morning. For a limited time, Missoni is offering uber fashionable items for you and your home at prices that most of us can afford. I have always had an affinity for Missoni but never been able to afford it. A while back I made items that resemble Missoni prints (here and here) and now I can finally check these items out first hand and decide what needs to come home with me. Happy shopping!
Here are just a few items I can’t wait to check out.

A few weeks ago I posted the beginning of our Nursery transformation (seen here). We started with a blank canvas and I am happy to say that things are coming along nicely. I am extremely happy with my choice of wall color and the finished result of the crib has put me over-the-edge with excitement and anticipation for Baby Baron’s arrival. We were lucky enough to score a used crib on craigslist (it came with a mattress and no recall, score) which saved us a bundle and gave me total creative control. I choose to compliment the black and white walls by painting the crib a bold teal color. We used the color Sprinkler by Valpar at Lowe’s. Not only did the crib turn out fantastic but the chair I ordered from a local boutique made its arrival this past weekend as well, perfect timing. Next up, finding linens for the crib, refinishing a side table I found and finding artwork for the walls. I’ll keep ya’ll posted.

This summer hasn’t gotten off to a very bright or warm start here in the NW and I was beginning to find it hard to keep my spirits up. Each weekend has been passing by without many hours of sunshine and the lack of sun and time I’ve spent indoors has taken a toll on me. Also, my poor body has been working overtime to stay healthy and fight off a cold that is working very hard to stick around. Since this summer hasn’t been all that I’d hoped for, I thought it best that I take a few minutes to appreciate all the things in my life that are currently making me smile on a daily basis. 1. Baby Baron is growing like a little weed along with my belly 🙂 and I thank God everyday for this little miracle I am creating. 2. I appreciate every moment I get to spend with my husband and I know our life is about to change forever (in a good way of course). Some of the more simple nights in are becoming very important and memorable to me. 3. Doing small craft projects and using my creativity always brightens my mood. 4. Scoring good deals at Nordstrom immediately puts a smile on my face! 5. Doing anything to prepare for our little boy reminds me just how precious life really is. These are just a few things that make me smile; what puts a smile on your face?
