Linguine with Pea Pesto

June 27, 2011 § Leave a comment

Pesto is one of those interesting sauces that can completely make a meal or overpower it. I’ve found that I’m pretty hit-or-miss when trying Pesto recipes. The other day I came across this Linguine with Pea Pesto recipe from Smitten Kitchen and the pictures looked so delicious that I couldn’t resist giving this recipe a try. The peas offer an unusual sweetness while the pine nuts and parmesan offer balance and create a creaminess that is absolutely amazing. This recipe is great for those cool summer nights and will definitely be something I make often.

Unusual Treasures

I absolutely love it when I come across fun home projects that costs little to nothing. This is exactly what happened when I was at my in-laws a while back and noticed a pair of deer antlers hiding in their garage. With a little imagination, paint and glue I was able to create a darling knick-knack for my bedroom. I love that my home is made up of these kinds of things. It has taken me quite a few years to bring everything together but I think my creativeness makes our place very unique and inviting.

All I needed to make this darling necklace holder was paint, primer, a backing to mount the antlers on (I found this pre-cut piece of pine at a local craft store) and glue. I had my husband sand the antlers slightly and then I primed and spray painted them. I did make sure to let the glue dry for a good 24 hours since I wanted a strong hold and I was done. I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out.

Nursery Part 1

The beginning of our search for the perfect Nursery colors.

With the exciting news that we are having a baby Boy and summer slowly creeping into season (and I do mean slowly) I thought it was necessary that we get a move on painting the nursery before it gets too warm out. My husband and I made a trip to Home Depot some time ago and picked out color swatches that caught our eye. I wanted something simple, yet interesting and fresh that could possibly grow with our little one as time passes. Drum roll please…I decided to go black and white. These two colors are nothing new to the imagination but I feel they are a good base to coordinate with pretty much anything I decide. I used Behr paint in “Frost” and “Black Suede” and I must admit that I am ecstatic about the results. This is just the beginning to a very beautiful result.

The transformation begins.

We painted the room white and then taped where we wanted the strips.

Best tip ever: Seal the edge of the tape off with clear silicone so your lines don't bleed.

Finished product and I couldn't be happier!

Possible colors for accessories.

Next on our long list of things to do before Baby Baron arrives is to refinish a crib. Stay posted and wish us luck.

And Baby Makes 4!

My husband and I have enjoyed five adventuresome years together and we finally decided it was time to add more fun to the party we are having. We have made many great memories together and are truly excited to bring a little one into the world. We recently found out what we will be having and thought it would be fun to invite some of our closest friends over to share our news.

We asked our friends to guess what the sex of the baby is.

Found a fun drink for the mommy-to-be to enjoy.

I made a cake to reveal to sex. Little Miles made us all sing “Happy Birthday”                         before we dug in. He’s too cute!

It's a BOY!

We are so excited to meet Baby Baron in October! With much to do and research I think we will be able to keep ourselves very busy this summer. I can’t wait to pick the brains of all my mommy friends and get advice and suggestions from those with experience. This overwhelming feeling of love I already have for my little baby boy is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. To see his little body developing is such a miracle and I will do my best to help him grow big (well not too BIG, he’s gotta get into the world still) and strong.  Here’s to watching the belly grow.

My husband thought this was a necessary purchase for our little guy; he is going to make a great daddy.

Where Am I?
